Supporting Recovery of Flood Affected Communities in Gujarat

Undertook a preliminary study of the 2015 flash floods in Saurashtra to understand flooding patterns and impacts on communities.

Period2015

In 2015, Gujarat faced flash floods due to heavy rains in Saurashtra, when high-intensity rainfall led to the overflowing of the Shetrunji and Bhadar rivers. These floods damaged not only innumerable water management infrastructure structures but also houses and livelihood assets. The People in Centre team undertook a preliminary study to identify the nature and pattern of flooding and its impact on people. The report is available on request.
