Reconstructing Schools using Bamboo in Violence Affected Kokrajhar, Assam

Collaborated with UNNATI to help communities reconstruct six schools destroyed in the 2012 ethnic violence in Kokrajhar, Assam.

People in Centre collaborated with UNNATI to support local communities in reconstructing the schools destroyed in the ethnic violence in Kokrajhar, Assam in July 2012. People in Centre brought together local artisans with artisans from the Kosi flood-affected region to share their skills and knowledge of bamboo and rebuild new schools. In the process of construction, bamboo trusses and improved bamboo joinery were demonstrated and shared. A total of six schools were constructed for both the Bodo and Muslim communities.
