Post Disaster Needs Assessment after TC Seroja, Timor Leste

Vivek Rawal of People in Centre coordinated the Post Disaster Needs Assessment undertaken by the Government of Timor Leste in collaboration with the UN and the World Bank after Tropical Cyclone Seroja hit the country in April 2021. The cyclone caused devastating floods and landslides, affecting more than 33,000 households. Damage and losses in various sectors — including agriculture, businesses, housing, transportation, health and educational infrastructure and services — were approximately US$300 million, and recovery needs were estimated at approximately US$530 million.
