Period2015

The 2015 Nepal earthquake was devastating. A team member from People in Centre was involved in the Post Disaster Needs Assessment jointly undertaken by the Government of Nepal, the United Nations and the World Bank, assessing the damage, loss and recovery needs of the housing sector and community infrastructure. The assessment put recovery needs for housing at about USD 3.3 billion. People in Centre contributed by highlighting the community perspective, facilitation mechanisms for owner-driven reconstruction and financial estimates. The key findings of the PDNA are available here. The People in Centre team member also prepared a video articulating the community voice for recovery.
