The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Delhi, organised a Training of Trainers on Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) in collaboration with NDMA and UNDP from April 24 to 29, 2022. The training aimed to strengthen the pool of experts in the country able to conduct PDNAs, since the PDNA process is mandated to access recovery funds in case of a disaster. Based on the global training resources developed by the UN and the World Bank, the training was contextualised for the Indian context. Vivek Rawal from People in Centre joined the resource team and led the sessions on the ‘economic value of damage and loss’ and ‘recovery needs’, and facilitated the group exercise for the housing sector.
