Guidelines for House Construction using Bamboo

For the Kosi Flood Recovery Programme, the Government of Bihar set up a Technical Committee under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. A. S. Arya. People in Centre and the Hunnarshala Foundation represented the ODR Collaborative on this Committee, which developed and approved guidelines for bamboo-based construction of houses for the owner-driven reconstruction programme in the Kosi region. Published by the Bihar Aapada Punarwas Evam Punarnirman Society (BAPEPS), these technical guidelines ensure multi-hazard safe construction of houses. The guidelines are available for download here. In addition, People in Centre, Hunnarshala and SEEDS (ODR Collaborative members) have prepared construction manuals based on these guidelines, available on request.
