People in Centre provided UNDP technical support for transitional shelter to families affected by the earthquake in Chahak village of Herat province, Afghanistan. More than two hundred transitional shelters were built by the affected families themselves, with financial assistance from UNDP and technical guidelines from People in Centre. The shelters were built using salvaged adobe blocks and additional materials such as bamboo, wooden poles, planks and CGI sheets, ensuring that all families were safely sheltered before the severe winter season.
