People in Centre undertook the assessment of the Cordaid-funded project ‘Mainstreaming Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction in the 2007 Flood Affected Communities of Bihar’. The three-year project (2009–11) was implemented by the All India Disaster Mitigation Institute (AIDMI) with its local partners in Bihar and financial support from Cordaid. This project-end review focused on the construction of semi-permanent shelters and community centres, extensions to school buildings and risk transfer initiatives through micro-insurance. Mandated by Cordaid, the review examined programming, delivery mechanisms, decision-making, partnership, community participation, vulnerability reduction and achievement of results.
