Damage assessment lays the foundation for all subsequent reconstruction processes, so it is critical that affected communities can participate in it. The methodology must therefore be credible, transparent, inclusive, flexible and participatory. With this perspective, Vivek Rawal and Dinesh Prajapati, with UNNATI’s support, developed a damage assessment toolkit, published by UNNATI, Ahmedabad. It is available here for download and use, and is also available at the Library of Congress (LCCN: 2008330618). Feedback and comments are welcome.
