Restructuring Human Interventions for Ecological Balance
Human interventions have brought us perilously close to destruction. Environmental resources have been exploited and natural systems are under severe threat of collapse. There is an urgent need to rethink our interventions for sustainable use of environmental resources. This thematic area focuses on planning and management of natural resources particularly water, vegetation and land. We provide research, planning, monitoring and evaluation services. Reinforcing People’s Capacities to Reduce Disaster Risks
Natural hazards pose significant risks to our well being. The risks are particularly high for the poor and vulnerable. People’s capacities need to be reinforced for disaster risk mitigation and management. This thematic area focuses on mainstreaming disaster risk management into development planning, specific risk mitigation planning, post-disaster reconstruction and recovery. Our key partners include National disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Gujarat State Management Authority (GSDMA), Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM), UNDP, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Owner Driven Reconstruction Collaborative (ODRC), Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI), Hunnarshala, and UNNATI. Reclaiming Urban Space for the People
Urban space has been usurped by the market. The informal workers and dwellers have no ownership and protection. The urban space is no more humane. This thematic area focuses on issues of urban planning and development with an idea to work towards making cities for its people. We provide research, planning, monitoring and evaluation services.
