Tsunami Displacement and Rehabilitation: Learning for Climate Change Adaptation Strategies

A research project was initiated by USAID to inform its Asia programs for supporting climate change adaptation from the learning provided by tsunami displacement and rehabilitation.  Vivek Rawal from ‘People in Centre’ Consulting participated as ‘shelter expert’ in the international study team managed by International Resource Group and led by Jock Baker. Two detailed country specific reports on India and Maldives; and one detailed synthesis report for the Asia region were prepared. The study included policy analysis and outcome of tsunami rehabilitation in India and Maldives and recommendations for USAID country offices for appropriate programming for climate change adaptation. ‘People in Centre’ Consulting was responsible for preparation of sector specific reports and also make contribution in country overview reports. In all, three sectoral reports (India, Maldives and Asia level) were prepared and contributions were made to overview and synthesis report.
