Incorporation of street vending and legal rights for carrying out business in open markets can only be supported through legal recognition and incorporation of their designing in planning process. People in Centre supported SEWA in their case for implementation of Street Vending Policy in Ahmedabad. Presentation to Gujarat Highcourt judges was made to explain the case from the viewpoint of supporting livelihoods of the poor and also showcasing such open markets as unique cultural assets of our country.People in Centre also was involved in briefing about town planning schemes and design development of marketplaces to SEWA’s legal advisor Ms. Indira Jaising during the proceedings of their legal petition.
